exhaust bellow??

i was giving the boat the once over and noticed a small crack in the lower black hose on my alpha 1 drive (exhaust bellow??) and was wondering if i should replace it, the hole is not big but could it do damage to the engine??

Most people don't worry about the exhaust bellows. It might be a little louder is all.

exhaust bellows rip is o.k. - if it's ripped though , i would check out the driveshaft & shift cable bellows - that's when you can cause damage .. check them out real good - bruce

Doesn't water come in the boat when there's a rip in the bellows?

Yes water wil come in boat if ujoint bellows has a hole in it or ripe.But not exhaust bellows.The bottom of most after market cobra exhaust bellows has slits in every groove.

would like to add, when checking bellows, turn drive full right and inspect then full left and inspect. cracks are hard to find when motor is straight ahead. and if you are in the water and see blobs of grease rising up from around your outdrive, u-joint bellows has split.

If one is cracked,the others arent far behind.The condition of one is an indication of the condition of the others.Simply Put REPLACE THEM. Charlie
