Exhaust Bellows disconnected?

Had a nice day out on the lake with my '86 CC with a 265 Mercrusier with a Alpha One, but the motor sounded different.

When I got it back on the trailer, I noticed that the exhaust bellow ( which I had replaced at the start of the season) has become disconnected from the transom side, The hose clamp and the bellow looks fine, but it's not connected.

So, a few questions, if I lower the stern, can I just slide on the bellows? How do I re-tighten the hose clamp? I really didn't look that hard, but it seemed that it is not easy to get in there. Also, did I do damage to the motor driving around with the stern lowered and the hose disconnected?

Let me know you thoughts, Got a new pair of water skis that I want to try on Sunday!!!!!

Thanks,
Bob

reattach and tighten with a 1/4" drive ratchet and 5/16 socket will work just fine

Thanks for the reply.
What is the best way to re-attach and get a socket to it? Any tricks before I dive in?
Thanks,
Bob

There should be a hole near the bottom of the transom mounting plate, you can stick a long flat head screw driver through. I think you may need a bellows expander tool for the exhaust bellows, its a real pain in the *** to get on with the limited space you have in there.

So it sounds like I will need a expansion tool? So how do use this without removing the stern? I was hoping I could just slide on the bellows and tighten the clamp.
Any videos up on utube or anywhere else?

Thanks,
Bob
