Exhaust cover gaskets 25-35 hp

Question? What changed in 1985 from the previous years(back to 76 i think but could be wrong) on the exhaust side on the 25 and 35's (besides no more 35hp motors after 1984) that would have you use two different exhaust cover gaskets compared to the two gaskets that were identical that were used prior to 1985. This pic shows the third gasket and the two identical gaskets... I assume this kit shown works on the 20's, 25's and 30's from 85 to ?? And the 25' and 35's prior to 85 and back to 1976 i think...

Other pic is gaskets prior to 1985, same ones that r in the kit shown but are OEM or NOS depending how you categorize them..NOS to me..
