I have a 1997 force 50 hp that i need to change the exhaust gaskets. Can I do that without removing the power head and do I need to use gasket sealer?
Thanks

U should be able to replace that without too much trouble.Just make sure U start with PB Blaster a week before U start undoing the bolts.Spray and re-spray and then again. Then start tapping on the screw to loosen them.Corrosion gets in the threads and tapping will loosen it some.J

Do just like Jerry said. Rock them back and forth slow a little at a time. If they break they break hopefully you havent run in salt water. Most times if they break you can grab them with vice grips once you get everything off and back it out. Putting loc tite on those bolts is a must when you reinstall because they are the ones most prone to breaking.

Re: exhaust gasket

Thanks where can i get PB Blaster? I am getting water on lower plug when idling compresson is good 135/135. I hope replacing these gaskets will fix the problem. I have not run in salt water.

Re: exhaust gasket

Usually water on the plug is from the head gasket.I'd look there first. You can still have good compression and still have water.
Check the head first. It's easy to do and not that expensive. It might save you a lot of work.
U can get PB at any good auto parts store. Can't find PB use any good penetrating oil.J

Re: exhaust gasket

Just filled it out. I was told this might be the problem some time back if compresson check was good. Do you think I am going about this wrong?
