That's a bummer, don't know if you can get it out with an easy-out, as before never tried to. Will be easier to get out with the manifolds off but the tools need to remove will be the same on or off. Being plastic should be easier to break up

Edit: just thought being plastic you can use heat, your not going to hurt the manifold with heat, need to keep plug wires clear and other things that might be effected

I know now why it was leaking in the first place. The end of the fitting is cracked where the drain plug threads in. Like you said before, it was probably because someone put a larger bolt on there and cracked it.

I think I will give the easy out a try and see if I can extract the remaining plastic.

Also, I have a heat gun which might be safer than a torch.

Can you see the shiny metal ring sitting between the plastic and the manifold? Do we think this is part of the drain fitting or is it part of the manifold?

This pic shows it better:

Yeah, I just saw that tape when I took the pics. I'm not sure why the electrical tape, but it looks like previous owner or mechanic was trying to do a cheap fix there.

I should look into getting a new set of wires. I just bought a new set of plugs, but I haven't changed them yet.

Woo hoo!!!

After a ton of work, I finally got the old plastic fitting out:

In case this helps anyone, I did not remove the manifold. I used a very short key hole saw with fine teeth. Since there isn't much room, I had to remove the blade from the handle and gently saw with the blade in my fingers. I made 8 vertical cuts evenly spaced and checking my work with a mirror so as to not damage the cast iron threads. After removing one piece, the rest broke loose and I unscrewed the nipple with my fingers.
