I have a 1978 70hp evinrude was getting water in middle cylinder so i pulled head and replaced gasket. Now i wanted to replace exhuast manifold gaskets, but it seems that its alot to do this. Was wondering if ther is a way to do this without removing powerhead. Was wandering if if i could just loosen housing below powerhead enough to get to bottom bolts. Can anyone tell me if this is possible???????

Thanks TJ

Re: exhaust manifold gaskets

I've done it two ways, 1, using 1/4" drive extensions and flex sockets. 2, drilling holes in the lower cover to get at the bolts and putting rubber plugs in them when the job is done.
