exhaust manifold gaskets

Could anyone tell me if i should use gasket sealer on exhaust manifold gaskets????? I have a 1978 70hp evinrude. I looked in manual and cant find anything about it. The gaskets dont say anything on them about using sealer. Thanks for any info

I have read where some do and some don't. Personally, as long as the contact areas are clean I don't use sealer on the exhaust gaskets.

Since there is water in the areas around the gaskets, I use the OMC sealer. A caramel colored sealer. Most of the older manuals of this vintage specify OMC sealing compound on these gaskets.
