1975 SeaRay 888 Ford 302....mercruiser type I

Quick question for Don or some of the other boat mech's....when I had my riser and manifolds pressure tested the technician took the old gaskets that were between the manifolds and risers (including the metal plate that sandwiched between the two gaskets) off....he handed me two new gaskets and told me to use them...

essentially the old ones blocked one of the 3 water ports.....the new gaskets allow water to go through all 3...

he said doing this would allow better water flow, but take a bit longer for the boat to reach operating temp.....

your thoughts....is this correct?

Re: exhaust riser

Theres been a few threads on here about them. From what every one has said they are for equallizing valve temps by stoping one side from dumping more then the other side. Do you need them couldn't tell you, but my ford has them and no problems.

Re: exhaust riser

No problem I redid mine and had a hard time finding a new one to replace the one I destroyed taking off. Nothing that large, lear45 and hawk800, get the longest delays at night following you guys in(IND).
