mercruiser v-8 big block. after burning off the heads (what was left of them after the rust) i slid off the manifold but can't get the rest of the bolt out of the block because it is actually rusted where the threads are. Is it safe to use the oxy-cetaline around the surface where the bolts are?

Ayuh,....

Other than the fact that the valve cover gaskets,+ whatnot are extremely Close by,......
Go for it.......

Personally,......
I've had Good Luck just clamping them tight with Vise-Grips,+ turning them out.....

thanks i'll give it a shot, i'll keep the flame small. I tried the vise grips but they wouldn't budge, i know they should come out pretty easily at this point so i'll probably just need a little heat.
