Re: Extended Swim Platform - Must Have?

An extended swim platform was an option on our boat. Guess what with the platform it won't fit in the winter storage garage stall a bit shorter than the summer stall and so we don't have one. Would have loved one but so far the built in one is pretty decent but the kids are still young being 6 and 10. The outdrive uncovered has been a non issue for us.

I think it's a great addition,

We have a bunch of siblings and I feel better having the outdrive and props covered. Plus it's just a great space to hang out with feet in the water!

this pic you can see the drive is covered up by the ESP.

We like to wakeboard and have a tower and also a swim platform. I would have to say that if I could only have one I would choose the platform over the tower. It is the nicest option on our boat. We will never have a boat without one again.

I think that the extended platform is one of my favorite parts of the boat - especially when doing water sports. Great place for the skiers / tubers to prep and / or dry off before getting back in the cockpit and adds quite a bit of "room" to the boat while at anchor.

I don't have one on my 20 ft IO bowrider. It certainly would be nice to have but we get along fine without it. My kids are 11-19 and we do a lot of tubing and wakeboarding as well as swimming and goofing aound. I guess you don't miss what you never had.

Does it have a swim deck but not an additional extension? or is the transom flat with nothing(like older outboards). If it has something molded there as from the factory then you will be fine if there is nothing look on ebay for a wood one (200-500 bucks) and install it yourself lots of folks here can guide you on how to install. The extensions are nice but not mandatory at all as long as there is something there to begin with. How old is the boat? It seems most 10-15 year old bowriders have some integrated swim deck on them.
