I have a project boat.
14' 1972 Skiflite
I found the transom to be rotten.
Here's some pics

I've already replaced the transom, fiber glassed the back cap and in the stages or smoothing out the sides.
I just picked up a 55 horse motor for my boat.
But found it to be a long shaft.
I have a 16" transom.
Without removing everything I've done. Is it possible to cut the back lip of the boat, and Add on to the transom and fiberglass in?
problem I can think of it it being weak where the two pieces of the transom meet. What about drilling straight down into the transom every 6-4 inches and putting hardwood dowels and gluing the upper portion of the transom to the lower portion. Then re-fiber glassing and making the transom level with the sides?
