I guess it just come down to the fact, we have all had bad experiences with lights on the other guys car...and I imagine I have been the other guy at times, I know I had a heck of a time after I came home for the service, it was dang the other guy, bust forward!

I would rarely drive 55 on a gravel road anyway, but almost all the roads around here are paved now.and most folks w the new cars would go slow to stop the rocks from damaging their expensive autos!!!

Well there are a few gravel roads in Montana you can drive 55 on, but it is sure not the ones I drive on, as I said, I almost went in the ditch because of a turkey yesterday and I was only doing 25, but of course that was on a sheet of ice...which we will have until at least March..

By the way going back through the various posts, I didn't see where anyone said they drove 55 on a gravel road? Just in our county, we have over 700 miles of unpaved road, actually more unpaved than paved in this county..

I think the new lights improve the drivers vision no question.but they need to understand they can impair oncomming drivers night vision especially when the road is wet/glare.you should make sure theyre always aimed correctly and slow down when approaching oncomming traffic on two lane paved rds.just because you can see fine wont stop a blinded driver from hitting you head on because they ran off the road or could not see the road from the glare or intensity of the oncomeing lights.they can be annoying from behind too in the mirrors.

mommicked,

Granted, and believe me I am not trying to argue at all, simply posting my opinions based on my experience, which is all I can do, they work for me, and I make sure they don't bother others, which is why I posted earlier about 2-4 degrees down and 2-4 degrees to the side...

Thank god, I am not driving the command vehicle I had when I was in the army, you could really gripe about that one! We could illuminate the desert with that one and did on many occasions...of course I ended up having many of those lights shot out, and the supply depot was always wondering why I had a standing order for replacement lights...

The bottom line is this.......

If people actually took the time to properly adjust their headlights then we would not be having this discussion, a properly adjusted light system will not pose a problem to other drivers, and at the same time provide better vision for the person driving the vehicle.

This is especially a problem when towing, people put a load on a tow vehicle and never bother to take 5 minutes to adjust the headlights, IMHO there is no excuse, especially when most of the vehicles today have built in adjustment gauges and levels..........it all comes down to being lazy and not taking responsibility for the equipment you drive.

One other thing, just because you are driving behind someone does not mean it's ok to use the highbeams, you are still blinding them!!!

I hate to admit it but I have noticed my night vision aint what it used to be. and bright lights are compounding the problem for me just in the last 2 yrs.Im 45 and i wonder about older drivers eyes and their abilities at night.i have seen alot of oncoming highbeams recently and sometimes they are not turned down when I check them w mine.So I turn mine back on and lay on the horn as we pass when im in a bad mood.not smart I know. But if I get so blind i cant see at night I think ill try to limit my night driving, not just drive around w the brights on all the time as i suspect some do.And to MTboatguy, thanks for your service and Im glad you made it home, Randy

Try using the night driving lenses (yellow lenses) they might help decrease the strain on your eyes, and they are nice to have when the snow is on the ground as well.

Tinted windows and truck that sits up pretty high, not really effected by them unless they are coming at me from straight ahead then I'll give them a little dose of thier own with the brights on (they are usually those fast and furious cars around here anyway )!
