Hey guys! Hope all is well for you getting ready for the season.

I have had my boat out several times so far this year and noticed every now and then while moving slowly, above idle speed, but under 2200 rpm.
The engine will cough. Just once and with no real loss of power justa quick cough and then fine. It does this intermitantly. Idle runs fine, above 2200 runs fine and with no other issues.
Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this and what needs to be done to fix it.
Thanks

Re: F100 coughs

have the linc and sync checked by a shop with the tech mate tool or its equivalent.
it may also be due for a carb cleaning.

Thanks Rodbolt.

I kinda figured that was what it was. Wish I had the knowledge and skills to do that. My local Yamaha service is VERY expensive but they are VERY good, with a couple master techs. So I will take it in next week.
Thanks again.

never said it was gonna be cheap:(.
thats why I post here so much, it aggrevates me how much this silly sheet costs.
course my dentist and the kids orthodontist have no problems billing me.
what can I say? I gotta live and make my payments too.

Re: F100 coughs followup

So took the boat in and when they took it apart they found my #3 carb was in very bad shape.
Previous owner tried to do them himself, used and etcher on the parts to remember how they went back together. Damaged several internal parts

Somehow bent the butterfly valve and it does not seal at all. Causeing motor to run too rich. So my mechanic looked for a week trying to find a butterfly valve unsuccessful. SO now we are replacing the entire carb.

Took her in for a 350 buck check/tune up and looks like she comes out of the ICU tomorrow for in the neiborhood of 1000.

Oh well the joys of boat ownership. I will still love it even when I write that huge check!!

yep, bummer.
just wait till your kids orthodontist say 6 teeth have to be removed and retainers worn for 2 years and braces for 3 years and oh by the way this is how cheap it is :) :).
makes a boat almost look cheap.
dont even ask about divorce :)
nice thing about divorce, its worth it :).
