I recently installed a water pressure gauge on my f115 and it doesent work:( I pulled the adapter back out of the block and there is no water flow through the hole. There was a small amount of salt water in the gauge line when I removed it. I have taken the side cover off of the block and can see nothing wrong. I pulled the thermostat and it seemed good. I tried a new water pump and this did not help. The motor has only 35 hours on it since rebuild, block is free of corrosion and does not run hot and has never overheated. I need to know where the port for the water pressure gauge leads to in the block so that I can find the obstruction or cause for lack of water at the port just to the left of the dip stick.

Jerry I finally gave up on trying to get my gauge operational. I contacted both yamaha and mercury trying to get technical help with where the water passage goes inside the block but neither one was any help and said that they had never heard of that before. I even contacted several marinas around here seeking help but all they wanted to do is have me bring it in so they could look at it. I am convinced theat the small water passage that feeds the gauge has filled up with salt deposits over the years and blocked it off. I must have not seen that passage when I rebuilt the motor. I am going to try to repediadly flush my motor with salt away in hopes that it will dissolve the blockage in the passageway.

I have another post on here where I'm trying to solve the same problem, last week somebody asked me to check a valve just behind where the water supposed to come out of the enging block to make sure its opening. I hope to check this weekend, if I find a resolution I'll let you know.

Your talking about the water pressure relief valve located on the side of the water jacket cover. Yes this could be your problem there is now a updated poppit and spring available to help solve sealing problems in the past. I replaced mine along with the water pump and it did not help.
