Pulled the thermostat on my Yamaha F115 last night. (2002)
I'm going to put a new one in but don't see any gasket and didn't look like any sealant was used. It would seem like there should be somethere there right? Thanks.

yes, there should be a gasket.... and yamaha does not supply the gasket when you buy a new thermostat, you have to get it seperately.

Ok, thanks. There was nothing. In looking at the thermostat closer it looked like it may have an integral seal but not sure. It wasn't leaking.
Anyway, I'm going to ask about a gasket when I go the dealer today to pick up some parts. Thanks for the reply.

Just to follow up I went to the Yammy dealer to buy a new thermostat and they tell me that particular model doesn't use a gasket. I didn't have one on my motor so I guess I believe him. They have to order the thermosat in though which is a little aggravating.

no, no gasket, no sealant.
the thermostat has its own seal.
see why I say pay very careful attention to internet advice unless you can verify the source.
look on the yamaha website for master tech grads, I am the one from Joes marine in wanchese.
and even then always question my replies. my memory is fallible too.

yep, memory fails me, the parts diagram rarely does.
the 115 has a gasket, the F115 does not.
