Had the good fortune as part of my training to tour Starcraft's Deckboat ops in New Paris, IN

Trimming the mold

Lotsa hard work building boats.

Yes that is a chopper gun.

Tinnies were in a different plant...the place is huge!

Vintage Starcraft tinny's and old glass get plenty of representation here.
I need to tour the deckboat factory.

im all confuddled ????

those boats had a starcraft logo........

but i saw glass molds and gellcoat.....

looks fake. bet its photo shopped !

thanks for posting this air diver....

i have been able to tour several factorys now and learn something new every time......
did you see the rubber hose clamp/holders ?......not many use as many as you see there. that is quality that cannot be seen.

Tinnies are kept in a separate building where visitors are not allowed anymore. Too many people were being cut badly and bleeding all over the place. They are really dangerous you know.

Tinnies are kept in a separate building where visitors are not allowed anymore. Too many people were being cut badly and bleeding all over the place. They are really dangerous you know.

bet that plant is right beside a hospital that specializes in severed arterys or has its own hi speed mag lev train to get there

Why are all the workers outfitted like some weird futuristic alien spore virus movie?
Whats with the clean room jumpsuits and masks?
Do they wear those on the tinny side too???

I would be nice to see the presses, shears, benders, drills and the reeviters. Gloves, aprons and ear protection are all you need to build tin boats. On a serious note, I wonder how long it takes to turn out a deck boat and how long for a tinnie?

Some where out on the WWW are a series of videos showing how Triumph motorcycles were built in the 50's. The most amazing thing is not a torque wrench in the factory. A lot of go - no go gauges, but the only torquing was done by Armstrong.

the thing about a big factory, is that the process can be sped up or slowed down due to sales volume.

my boat shop is 5 minits from campion boats.....they can put out 7 boats a day at full swing. but right now......they are at one a day some times one every two days.
the line is deserted by 2 in the after noon.
but when they are rollin ......man....just about a boat an hour is put on the lot
