Re: Failed fuel pump

I just spoke with my dealer. They replaced just the high pressure pump (part was approx $260).

They indicated that the new pump ran cooler than the old pump, but still ran warmer than normal. They checked for a fuel restriction and discovered the anti-siphon valve was restricting the flow, so they replaced that and the new pump runs cool now. I am wondering if the extra restriction from the anti-siphon valve caused the original pump to wear out?

BTW - My engine is a 2008 5.8 Gi with only 42 hours.

Well, new high pressure pump exhibited the same symptoms as the prev pump after a short 15 minute cruise. Dealer states that VP advises replacing the low pressure pump, which only comes as part of the entire assembly.

Perhaps I have the issue with rust?

Any suggestons on what course of action I should take here?

MuddyBlues, you need to start a thread of your own. This thread belongs to davidlees and his problem, not yours.
