Does anyone know anyone selling 4.3L OMC or know where I can get one fairly cheap(1990). Also can I use a 1985 if I zero the flywheel and use the right balancer since it is internally balanced? will everything match up?

I am. Not sure if I'm permitted to sell off the board. It's actually a MerCruiser, but I'd imagine the longblock is pretty much the same. It's also a 1990, but it doesn't have the counterbalance shaft. I was going to eBay it, but if it's okay with the administrators, maybe we can hook-up.

It broke the casting where the outer starter bolt screws in and the owner didn't want to trust it. The screew still goes in, but about 40% of the threads are busted out. I was parting it together for a car I had, but I sold that. It's short some parts, but I'm sure yours has what you'd need. The boat was strictly freshwater and it had around 20 hours on it (guesstimate) when I changed it out back in 1995.

I got them. I'll be in touch. I hope I'm not stepping on any toes here. It's not something I normally do. Thanks.

Re: Failed on the rebuild, Looking for a 4.3L OMC

I talked to the gentleman on the phone and wish to relate some information I've learned recently.

There is a rebuilder out there using eBay for free advertising. He sells 4.3 short blocks for $1,050, but the starting bid is $1,000. I had another individual interested in my motor, but he also decided to go with that rebuilder.

I became suspicious of this rebuilder when these two different prospective buyers found the same motor within days of eachother referring to the same eBay short block. Amazingly enough there were no bids on that short block. Both buyers contacted the rebuilder directly, and based on my conversations with them, I expect that both ended up buying short blocks directly rather than going thru the bidding process.

While I have no indication that the product offered is inferior (he sure makes it Sound good!), I do find the rebuilder's selling tactics Highly Questionable. If he's willing to cheat eBay by this obvious method to circumvent the bidding process (by selling to prospective bidders directly and get out of paying the commission), who else is he willing to cheat??? In my experience, Shady People use Shady Tactics to sell Inferior Merchandise. Let the Buyer beware!

I think some people are just to proud of what they have and think its worth way too much ! Its just a motor not a house. You just want way too much money
