It just pisses me off when one part of the company tells me that it will be there by the end of the day and I waste the day waiting for an item I know I have to sign for. Keep in mind from the day it shipped until I called them late yesterday suspecting something was wrong that the website still showed delivery was going to be yesterday. Of course when I called corporate to complain about what happened the website changed to reflect delivery was going to be Monday. And I never got an email telling me of any delay either which I had set on the website.
They had my phone number and knew they had to set an appointment for delivery (something I did not know) and never called.
We should not have to suspend our lives due to incompetence by FEDEX.

I work for a competitor of fed-ex,...

To be fair your talking about fed-ex FREIGHT,....Not fed-ex express, or fed-ex ground,...
All three of those are 3 separate companies under one corporate umbrella,...

The situation you find yourself in is not uncommon in the freight industry, You would have to read the tariffs to see what their obligations are with the delivery date posted, Most will say that is only an expected, not promised delivery date,...

I hope your motor gets there safely,........

I had no idea there was a company called FEDEX Freight until late yesterday when I talked to the local depot. Here (were are semi rural) they all operate out of the same depot once the item is delivered to the end or delivery location and the item was shipped up from Phoenix to our location at 1:30 AM to us, just 100 miles from Phoenix.
Regardless of who they are or where they operate it's just not right for them to inform customers that (A) you must be there to sign for it and (B) Never show up or call or email about a delay of any kind when all I have to go by is what FEDEX says online about the delivery.
All that information online by the way did not change until I filed a formal complaint with FEDEX late yesterday. Just covering the bases so they don't get their asses in further trouble with the corporate idiots I guess.
It's just not right to ask someone to stand by and put your life on hold until something shows without notification.
I have notified the shipper as they send many motors this way and they are not happy about the end result either.
I have also let the shipper know that if the skid shows with a punctured or crushed box I will not accept it or sign for it. I would not be surprised to find some damages now that I have filed a complaint. The shipper agreed with me and told me the reason that they use the skid for shipping is to prevent damages and if it has any outside damages to the main box to return it (assuming it's major crushing or punctures)

And yes I got many notices from all over that Mercury motors either could not be ordered special or could not be shipped. I found very few companies that would ship them. I don't know why it's that way, almost reminds me of "fair trade items" back in the day and price controlling. Either that or they were not true Mercury dealers?? Beats me.
So in the long run I did get the motor with full options about $400 cheaper than retail locally and I did not have to pay sales tax or shipping so I think in the end it was worth it.
If iBoats had sold them I would have most likely bought from them but I guess they are not a Mercury dealer. I had a smaller 9.9 HP I had bought with the boat and like it so well that I wanted another Mercury. Of course at that time I did not know that one company made the motors for almost everyone in the below 30 HP bracket.
One question however. Is it still American Made when it's contracted by the American company to be made in China??? LOL

keninaz, I honestly feel sorry for your waiting time. But I also hope you cool off before Monday and not take any aggression out on the person or persons assisting you with your order. They may have nothing to do with the situation. Just saying. Hope it all works out for you in the long run. Happy New Year sir! :thumb:
