Hey, I was listening to the oldies but goodies radio station today. I'm hearing songs I grew up with and they call them oldies. These songs aren't but 15 years old. I'm not old yet! I'm not! No, I'm not!
Who else feels this way??
Bassy :D
Edit: " The 8th graders I'm teaching don't know who "Chip and Dale" are. What's up with that?? :D More feeling ancient.

Ya, I know the feeling, problem is I really "FEEL" old and Im not! I just beat myself up too much when I was younger! I listen to the Oldies here at work when Im not listening to talk radio! The thing about the oldies is that I think about things I did growing up that I shouldnt be thinking about!

It's all relative :p A teenager thinks we are ancient, old timers think we are whippasnappas. We are in "PRIMETIME" :D :D

There's a lot of things 8th graders don't know if you think about it. They do not know a world without CD's. I saw a list of things like that a while back...Now that made me feel old :D

gaugeguy...I like the way you think. "PRIMETIME"! I like it!! :D

I got Aunts and Uncles that still see me as young. Well yeah, when compared to them I'm young. But compared to my granddaughter, not to young. Now I know what to say to them.

I'm "PRIMETIME"!! :D

Hate to bring it up but, I remember when Aerosmith put out their first "albums".

Saw them Sunday and they looked more like some friends of my dads in costume than international rocks stars....... :D

Re: Feeling old and I'm not

back in college, late 80's, a buddy was joking about how the radio would be playing crap like "the 80's at 8"....you know, they used to play the 60's at 6, then the 70's at 7......seemed like i'd never hear about the 80's at 8 and now stuff from the 90's makes it, too.

its almost 2005 already!

Re: Feeling old and I'm not

Don't know about the rest of you, but over the years I have found my thinking about age has changed. i.e. I remember thinking that 30 was old, couldn't even comprehend 40 or 50. I had a conversation with my dad shortly before he died at the age of 87, and he was telling me about talking to this old man in town about something. I asked him how old this old man was and he said I don't know, probably in his 80's. What was funny to me was my dad didn't see himself as old and that is exactly how I see it also. :D :D

Re: Feeling old and I'm not

There are times when i do feel old :( ,
there are times when i do feel young  ,
the manifestation of these mood swings are manipulated by the reminisce factor,eg a particular song may take the mind back to an era,or engages one in a futuristic fantasy...oh! and for women it get's much more bizarre when you start getting into the PMS thing and hot flashes and the like :( Some folks handle the situation exceptionally well while others may indulge in spending rather large sums of money on a new convertible or a new boat.

Hey! i just made up all that crap up :p ,

so Bassy if feeling older depresses you, just don't do away with the bikini yet :D , or how about a pair of tight black leather pants ;)

Re: Feeling old and I'm not

A woman I know delivers meals on wheels to "the old people", as she calls them.

The woman is my grandmother, and about to turn 90!!

Quite a woman. Had her knees replaced so she could dance at her great grandsons wedding. Bought a smaller rototiller that she can handle easier. She gave me a ride in her new 2004 Chevy last week. She does pretty darn good, better than my father.

Re: Feeling old and I'm not

15 years old, and they're oldies  Hoo Lee Chit, 15 years old would put those songs on the airwaves in 1988  Well, let's dust off the Twisted Sister and Duran Duran, cause that's gotta be positively ancient. How about some classic Culture Club. Before long we'll be having a retro '90s night. Pretty soon we'll have WZUP, the Classic Rap station, playing all your favorite hip hop hits of the '90s

Well, I guess any music eventually becomes classic. I wonder how many people in the '60s thought that the Beatles would eventually be classified as Classic Rock.

As far as age goes...
Growing old is manditory.
Growing up is optional!

Re: Feeling old and I'm not

Funny this post comes along when it was only 40 short years ago The BeaTles landed at JFK for their appearances on The Ed Sullivan Show, a concert at the Washington Coliseum, and shows in Miami. Now I was only 10 at the time, but I well-remember seeing them on Sullivan! What a radical new sound!
Now I've got two 20+ year-olds. I try listening to the latest R 'n' R station, but I find myself comparing the music today to the 'new' music of that era, and inevitably switch to the 'oldies' station. Where there was so much being sung about love back then, the theme seems to be hate and cursing nowdays. Man, I miss it! Will there never be another band like that? I don't think so...

Re: Feeling old and I'm not

Well....I don't feel old. No major achs or pains. Still put in a 12 hour shift at the plant and am tired at the end of a "long" shift. But that's normal. On my feet most of the time at the shop. Seems I get more tired at the shop than at my regular job.

Don't like the word "old". How bout' "age challenged"?

Oh! And Elmer....thanks for the small words! I understand them ones jist fine! :D
