Re: Few water pump questions

Some information might prompt some help.

What engine are we talking about.
Model number?

What Sierra kit do you have ?
Part number?

Is it the right kit for your engine. Do the parts match the illustration in the catalog.
Does the Sierra kit match the parts shown in the BRP parts catalog

White key ? why should there be a key in the bottom plate ? Does not right at all. The only key I'd expect to see is the impeller key.

If you had bought the BRP kit, instructions would come with it and not a lot of unused parts.

Well first the the big one that's on the plastic bag that has a D shape goes onto the water pump housing cover, there's a groove on the edge you will see. The rubber boot with the small hole in the middle slides down your shift rod. The bigger o-ring looks like that's the one for the under the chrome water pump housing where you will see a groove for that as well and the smaller o-ring looks like it's the one that goes into the water pick up tube.

The white key goes on the shaft, it's the impeller key. The smallest edge goes towards the way your motor spins, so more than likely clockwise. Not sure about the smaller one...

The bigger round o-ring goes inside the impeller housing, and the smaller one either goes inside on top of the chrome piece or on the top of the drive shaft.

Depends on what you have...

Does your shaft have a grove under the splines on top? If you look in my thread here you will see somebody posted an image of what I mean. http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=443868

Hmm looks like we have some various opinions. Check to see if the bigger o-ring fits inside of the impeller housing...

Edit: I was reading wrong. I also think the bigger o-ring goes between the impeller housing and the water pump housing.

If you turn the impeller housing upside down you don't see a grove in it where that o-ring would sit? Judging by the picture it looks like the exact same size.

Edit: Do you have a manual? Also, I guess I should clarify that I'm talking about a 200 hp, I've never seen a 90 inside.
