filter bowl emty out fuel and die?

Hello, every one, I have 1964 evinrude 28 hp, 2cyl starts and runs until a filter bowl runs out of fuel and dies. It will stars & runs if I prime a primer ball again.

Is that a sign of bad fuel pump?. any inffo will be apreciated.

Bad fuel pump would be my guess.

It could be the fuel pump, but there are other possibilities.

Pumping the primer bulb is a lot stronger pump than the fuel pump and it can overcome restrictions and blockages that even a good fuel pump cannot.

First check for: restriction in tank venting, restriction in fuel pickup inside tank, air leaks in lines from tank to fuel pump.

If those all check out okay, then overhaul the fuel pump.

Update replaced all old clamps on fuel line the primer bulb seems to be harder and fuel never run out of glass fuel container no more, gets better, starts everytime but dies in about a minute and will start again and runs about a minute and die.

Could it be something electrical failure get hot and die? Thank you again.

No. There is really nothing electrical about the fuel delivery system.

Clean out the entire fuel system including the carb's. Rebuild or replace fuel pump.
