Okay here we go.

1. won't idle, it'll run fine, but if you put it to idle it'll die. Is that just idle adjustment?

2. It doesn't seem to run very fast. I do believe my speedometer is off, i'll have to take a gps w/ me next time I go out. Its the first time driving it, and i'm still green on boats, it seemed like it'd plane out when I adjusted the trim though, but holeshot was pretty week.

3. When I got out of the water, my trim would not work, where do I begin?

Could problems 1 and 2 be caused by old/bad gas?

if its bad gas you could easily narrow that down with spraying some carb spray over it and see if it stays smooth, just stay clear of it. you dont say what engine or carb you have, im guessing its the one under your name. Might have to have your carb overhauled, its cheap and really makes a difference.

probably the carb, they get dirty really easy, I wrap mine up in a bag when not in use. Gaskets are cheap enough

probably could use a carb rebuild. Would that be found at a marine store or an automotive store?

What about my trim? I hear the motors running, but it doesn't move. Worked fine before.

well no, I've not checked the fluid yet.

How do I do that?

And secondly, if its low? How would I find the leak?

Last first how old is the gas??

And what's the deal with the trim? Are you sure it worked correctly while you were under way? Cause the correct trimming has a huge effect on speed/performance.

Re: Finally got her out!!! ....new issues...

the gas is probably 1.5-2 years old, its old.

And I would say the trim worked at first because when I messed with it i leveled the bow out at WOT. Plus it worked out of the water just fine too.

That gas is way past its sell by date.:eek: I'd drain out as much as I could, (use it in your lawn mower) replace all the filters and refill with fresh fuel..............for starters.

As for the trim, if the motor runs when you hit the switch but you get no movement, and it worked when you first launched I'd be looking for a bad leak, broken line, or possibly a stuck valve in the system.

What LT said. Two years???!!!! Dang, I worry at one. Pump out as much as ya can and use it a gallon a tank in your car/truck. Change all filters and rebuilt the carbs. Looking towards the stern, to the left of the motor (not on the motor), you should see a small plastic reservoir with a cap. Looks kinda like a brake fluid reservoir, check to see if it has fluid.

What filters are there that should be replaced? Do you think that could be part of my seeming lack of power?

I'll look for a leak, but it sounds like it'll be hard to find.

PA, I honestly believe the gas will be 90% of your problem. Either drain it or since it runs, put a can of Seafoam in there and burn it up. Until you run on fresh gas, I really don't think you will know where you stand. I know there should be a filter at the carb infeed. There might also be one inline.

yeah, okay, I CANNOT find the reservoir to check the fluid!!!

I see the fluid lines and the motor, but I cannot see where to check it.

Why am I blind?

PA, I guessed at the PT/T reservior location based on previous Alpha 1s I've had. Follow the stainless steel lines and they should take you to it. Get an OEM repair manual...they are worth their weight in gold.

Re: Finally got her out!!! ....new issues...

well, I have a manual, and i was glancing through to find a photo of what you guys were describing, well this time I stopped to actually read instead of look at the pretty pictures.

Apparently to check my trim fluid I have to check the fill screw on the hydraulic pump.

Make sure you check it with the trim rams all the way down and in.
