I'm currently on the hunt for a boat either a small cruiser or a large cuddy. Many I'm finding don't have a trailer.
How would I go about finding a good one snd what might I expect to pay?
Thanks

Re: finding a trailer

I was in this spot once with a 22' deck boat and it was a pain.

Quick story - the guy who sold me the boat "lost" the trailer, he bought the package new and had it delivered to the marina where they would put it in and pull it out every year and he would never use the boat, until I came along and scooped it up. "yeah I had a trailer but I'm not sure what the dealer did with it...they were storing it for me, I'll call over there and see if they can find it....."

My advice is to comb craigslist, search tempest will search all of the craigslist areas around you. Then get on the horn with marinas and used boat lots to see what they have around. If you do end up buying one new (which is what a lot of people end up doing) you will not see any of it back in resale.

For your second question, price: $500-$3000

Used trailers are hard to find and sometimes, depending on where you are located, even finding a new one can prove difficult. I know someone who kept checking Craigslist until he found a junker boat on a decent trailer, bought boat and trailer for less than the trailer alone was worth, hauled the boat to the local landfill and kept the trailer. One caveat about that method though: you need to make sure that the trailer has a clear title before you buy it.

I had a similar problem, posted a "want to buy" on craigslist, had a couple of responses and bought a trailer from one of them. I have a 24' boat and paid 1500 for a dual axle trailer
