Hello everyone I am trying to find the VIN number on my 1998 120 Force at least I think it is a 1998 until I find the VIN I may be wrong. Does anybody know where it is located?

If it's not on the transom clamp, port side. Then look on the powerhead for #s
What years the boat? It's possible it's the same year.

Re: Finding a Vin on a 120 Force

Thanks Jerry for the help but I looked all over the clamp and cant find a stamped number and I havent seen a number on the head yet but I will look again tomorrow. The hull is a 1998 but I need the serial number for the DNR to get it registered with the state. I was told it starts with OE. I also need the number to find parts. Is the number on the clamp in any certain spot?

OE is probably stamped someplace on the motor.Look for a shiny plug on the stbd side.

Believe it is only on the id tag on the starboard side of the transom bracket of that motor.

Sometimes you will find it on a small white paper label, on various components. It looks like an address label, used as part of the build process.
Might find one on the starter, the solenoid, or the ignition board.

Seriously? You have to register an outboard? Whats this world coming to?

That's right we have to register the outboard! This is really turning into a nightmare. We went out to the boat again tonight and we looked everywhere with a magnifying glass and flashlight. Looked everywhere that everyone suggested. There are no numbers, none. There are no stickers, nothing. Why does this have to be so hard?! Anyone else have any other suggestions? I would greatly appreciate it!! THANKS

I had to register mine too, 25 yrs. ago. What you may have to do is take the boat to your nearest(?) DMV, water patrol, or state police and have them visually confirm the motor, then they can/will assign a number to it, like they do with a homemade trailer....never tried it with an outboard, but its worth a try....
