X- city manager Steve Stanton of Largo Florida, was fired from his hundred thousand dollar plus job because he wants to be a woman. There are 40 plus states with a law on the books that they can fire a person from a city job. He discribes himself as a lesbian trapped inside a womans body. His wife has no qualms about her husband having a sex change, she even helps him shop for his clothes. 8)

What say you?

Let's just all stand in line to support every perversion that comes down the pike.:| Fire the jerk. I do not want to pay for his life choices.

I once saw a bunch (a gaggle?) of trannys marching at a gay pride parade, that my old company had sponsorship.

Most of them made supermodels look like dogs.

Go figure d:)

Whatever floats your boat...

The question is whether or not he performed the job competently, and did his sexual confusion interfere with his duties on the job.

Obviously, I don't know the answer, and if there is a case to be made that it did interfere, they have ample opportunity to support the claim.

It would not be a stretch to assume that he wanted his predilection remedied by the employer supplied health care.

Re: FIRED

Is it posssble the press biased the story to make it look as if the only reason he..er she...well, whatever, was fired was the gender issue? Is it possible it was performance related, and the fact there is some gender ambiguity just makes it a convenient discrimination story? If his name was Bubba Jones and he was a large, overweight, white redneck would it make the news?

Just a thought. But I tend to think that things that SHOULDN'T be news get MADE into news to sell, well, the news!

I would doubt seriously the employer supplied health care/insurance covers such a proceedure, Boomer...

Re: FIRED

I often wonder if someone who has such a significant mental/emotional/sexual issue that they need sex reassignment surgery, can perform normally and make sound rational decisions in their work life.

There is someone where I work who is going through a sex reassignment. Have known this person for 15 years before I was aware that he had started the process of changing. Although this is the only example I have personal experience with, I have to admit this person has made many poor business decisions against the advice of his peers. The result is offen reworking the entire project.

Just my 2 cents.

According to the people of Largo Florida, he did his job very well, no complaints of job performance. Also he wanted to remain at his job, but the people were diviided over him staying or going. 8)

I agree with PW on this one.. Performance has to rule..

I am not agreeing that is ever necessary as messing with nature in this way just doesn't make sense. On the other hand, I am not put here to judge others and I would not willing put him/her into more agony with no justification other than this. if this becomes a factor in doing the job, then it ties to performance.

However, if this was a school, I would move my kid before they would be subjected to this.

That is a terrific way to look at it. No one can tell me that it is "normal" for a person to change their given sexual equipment. If it was "normal" then most of the people you and I know would be flip-flopping back and forth at will. However, it's NOT normal. So, would I want someone in an important position who can't even identify who they are? No way! Get real.

Re: FIRED

I live in Saint Petersburg, a couple of minutes from where this has all taken place; and of course it's all over every newspaper, news show, and talk radio program here. From what I understand, the wife has moved to Kansas City and taken their 13 year-old son with her. The kid found out on the news, not from his dad; this is the worst part of the whole business to me. I mean it's tough enough to be a 13 year-old kid imagine being in High Scool and all of your classmates knowing your dad is now a tranny...Holy Crap!

Apparently the story was leaked to the news media by one of his/her co-workers whom he had confided in. I never caught the part about him being a "lesbian trapped in a woman's body".

The root of a lot of really bad stuff . . . What about coming to work naked? Job performance is good, so hey, who are we to judge? Seriously, why is that different? I am not suggesting that a sex change operation is absolutely grounds for termination, but that root of tolerance up there is also the road to heck in a hand basket . . .

Re: FIRED

Right or wrong, he/she held a position that is somewhat high profile and those types of jobs subject a person to being judged. 1st impressions count. Everyone will know that the city manager of Largo is a tranny, and regardless of how well the actual job is being performed there will be unwanted attention being brought upon this town simply because of one person's gender crisis. If I experienced a very personal identity issue, and this is just me, but the last thing I would do is make my problem someone else's. The fact he had the gall to try and force his town to accept something that not everyone would understand or even want to understand, points to a personality ill suited for a city manager position. I hope he/she finds happiness and his family adjusts to this, as well as I hope he/she finds employment outside the public eye.
