Ok I have a 1977 135 HP Chrysler I pulled the flywheel to check to see if the key was sheared it was good.
The engine was running at half power wound up being the fuel pump diph and it w
as sucking air around the pump housing .

When I reassy the flywheel it was running great with new diph but I didn't
Get the nut tight enough so it sheared the key I pulled the flywheel again put new key in
Now I'm only getting fire at #2 coil

Any ideas I'm at a loss I don't understand why it was firing before I sheard the key now it not can anyone help me?

Re: Firing

You need to inspect the trigger wires that come out from under the flywheel. As Jerry said, you also need to inspect the magnetic strip.

You need to check the grounds for the electronics mounting plate, for each coil, and the CD box grounding. AND You must check the stator wires charging the CD boxes (Blue and yellow). When the flywheel came loose it is possible that it damaged the magnet, trigger wires, or CD charging wires.

Re: Firing

Uh-oh! I didn't realize it was Magna-Power II. Don't bother driving yourself crazy. MagII was the worst ignition system Chrysler ever made. It was so prone to failure that Chrysler issued a retro-fit ignition under warranty.

Do yourself a favor and find a junker 4 cylinder Chrysler ('78 or later) or Force with a blown block and salvage the whole ignition off it. It should be a direct swap with no modifications necessary

Re: Firing

I found a ignition power pack on eBay for a 125 HP will this work on my 135 and do I need anything else to switch the ignition over from individual power packs ?

Re: Firing

If it is a Magna Power II power pack, then you can use it. --at your own risk. But I don't think this ignition was ever used on the 125. It was used for only a couple of years on the 55, 120, and 135

However if it is Motorola, it will not work unless you get the flywheel, stator, distributor, and top bearing adapter.

What you need to find to make your life easiest is a complete Prestolite system off a 4 cylinder or a complete Merc ignition off a 4 cylinder Force.

CDI did at one time make replacement parts for this ignition but I don't know if they still do.

Re: Firing

It's a shame, but that is probably the best option moneywise at this point. Don't expect too much for the Chrysler. It may be preferable to part it out and sell on ebay. Frequently the parts are worth much more than the whole engine. Lower unit--if it is the one piece minimum 150, prop--around 40, carbs--25-50, block--around 100 or so, starter 25-50, flywheel---25-50.

Re: Firing

Hope I don't get in trouble for posting this, but let me know if you decide to sell. I'm not too far from you (Alex/Pineville) and might be interested in some parts (maybe the whole thing).
