1941 Cadillac bought in 1955 for $100. Drove it from Annapolis, Md to Mobile, AL through the mountains and it ran like a champ. Later sold it for $100.

Re: first car

Dad was a bodyman, so I had lots of different cars to drive. He would by wrecks, repair them, and have me drive then for a couple of weeks befor selling them.

The first car that was titled in my name was a Plymouth Cricket with the sport package. It wasn't top end fast, but it was quick to 97 mph uphill, downhill, and around corners. I could do 360's with that car in the middle of a two lane road! Plus it would get 35 miles to a gallon....

Re: first car

Mine was a 74 Audi Fox.. It had a hole in the #1 Cylinder and my dad and I dropped a modified VW Dasher motor in it. Paid $425 for it and sold it for $1000. It ran great was fun to drive and was like a snowmobile in the snow..

After that moved up to a 75 Nova with the 350. It was so powerful and quiet. It also had tons of room in the backseat..

1929 Model-A Ford sedan bought 1964
1949 Chevrolet sedan bought 1965
1956 Ford Crown Victora bought 1966
1967 Chevelle Super-Sport bought 1967

Those were the days when cars were machines rather than a hybrid of plastic, glass, tin, and computers. How I'd love to have any of them today rather than my Voyager or Jeep...

'47 Ford Coupe. Three Stromberg 97's with progressive linkage, .040 overbore ( always hot), milled heads and a Mallory ignition that would throw a ball of fire across the street. Eleven transmissions, I think, and several clutches and third members. Kept me broke, busy, off the streets and outta pool halls.

c/6

Hooty

Re: first car

My first car was a 1965 Barracuda. I bought it used for $160 LOL. I used to pull up to the gas station and say "fill it up with oil, and a couple gallons of gas".

My boyfriend way back then, had a 1970 Ford Torino GT convertible, red with a white top, now that was sweet. I liked the looks of the car, he loved the Cleveland engine. :D

Wasn't my first car but a 1959 Citroen ds19 was my second car. I flipped it over the front end on Mulholland Dr above Los Angeles. Everyone said it couldn't be done but I did it. I was lucky I did not go over the cliff.

I worked for an independant foreign car repair business and was able to get my money back from selling parts. It was a good car for the short time I had it. I was surprised to see anyone else had one.

1959 Chevrolet Belair. Had a six cylinder and if you stomped it, you could count to 60 before you got to sixty. Very smooth ride and huge back seat. Had the removable ignition key too. Loved that car!
