thanks for the info. Looks like I'm within spec. Biggest difference I have is .110 and .125 is the limit. I will check again after I lay the wood in. Hope to have supplies by the weekend.

If I make the transom 1/2" thicker than the manufacturer did, will I run into issues of the splines of the out drive moving a half inch out also?

Just thinking out loud here....but mercruiser specd the 2-2.25 inches, that's where they want the spline to be in the coupler. I'm sure rinker didn't get a custom length shaft when they ordered the outdrIves

Got two of cutouts glued together today. Used drywall screws that I will remove later, to hold it together. Put my old manifolds on their for some extra weight. Final measurements came out to 1.08" of thickness, was only + - .02" around the keyhole. Pretty happy with that.

My fiberglass supplies came in also today. this is just a small amount of what I got. I have 3 gallons of resin and lots more strands and silica.

Saturday I plan to glue the wood in with Pb. Only using two sheet of 1/2". Will see where that gets me. My ultimate goal is to be at 2.00" when done.

What do I paint this with?

The project is moving along nicely. It's all tabbed in, 2 layers of 1708 over the entire section. this is already more than the manufacture used. Going to keep layering on the 1708...maybe 6 layers. That should take me to about 2.10" overall thickness. Thanks for all the help so far

Haven't updated this in awhile, but had my first test on the river the other day. No leaks and the outdrive didn't fall to the bottom of the river. I'd say the project was a success! Thanks for all the help.
