Re: First Time To Harbor Freight.

I forgot to add that a week before going on vacation last month I bought a 6.5 HP 2500 PSI pressure washer for a quick job. Model 67546 (299.99 on sale) and the water pump leaked all of the oil out and really got hot. Next day they exchanged it and the second one leaked also. So I called the manager and he said I was the only one who had ever had a problem with leaking oil.
Bring it in and he would return my money.
I told him we were leaving for a couple of weeks.
No problem just bring it in with in 90 days of purchase.

Now this is where it gets good and why I wanted to add this.
I told him I would rather try to find the leak and keep it but if I could not fix it would he still exchange it.

He laughed and said either I exchange it or give you back the money so go ahead and try it. He then said before sending the one I returned back he would take it out back to see if he could find the leak. (it still had gas and oil in it)
To give him a call when I got back and he might have an answer for me.

I know every store will be different but our store in Tacoma has a manager that thinks on his feet.

Re: First Time To Harbor Freight.

I now understand why these are always on backorder.

http://www.harborfreight.com/14-gauge-swivel-head-shears-92115.html

HF was out of these cutters, so I purchased the "Tool Shop" brand cutters, from Menards, which are the exact same shears as the HF. I paid a whopping $39. An equivilent Dewalt is about $200 and I believe, also made in China.

These cutters will cut an 11' piece of sheet metal roofing longways, in about 90 seconds, smooth as silk. They cut out a narrow ribbon of steel, so you don't have chips everywhere.

Their downside is that they cut so smooth and easy, I want to use them everywhere. Like any cutter or shear, they struggle cross-cutting ribs and bends, so I try to force them. They cut so well, that when they get though the rib or bend they will cut where you won't want them quickly.

If you cut sheet metal, These shears are money well spent.

Not sure if the cutters are standard and can be replaced, but one could almost throw the whole thing away and get another.

The Fort Wayne, IN store, has a pretty good bunch working there.

Ive had some air tools crap out after a while, but they worked good for the most part. Yes their jack is awesome, i got one a few years ago and it still works great. My dad and i sometimes buy each other odd/unusual tools from there for each other on christmas. Kinda fun. Last time i was there i got a channel lock set for the price that lowes wanted for just the one pair that i needed. all in all its great, but you cant get mad if something breaks. but they do have a lifetime warranty on their hand tools/sockets i believe.
