Got my new boat, now I need a good fish/depth finder. Would like to stay under $400.00. All we have are small lakes around here.
When I mount the transducer I mount it on the little plastic 3 x 8 piece on the back of the boat?

Thanks for the help
Don

Re: Fish/Depth finder

I would research Humminbirds 500 & 700 series sonars.

I don`t have first hand experience but thats the way I`m going on my next purchase.

If you're not looking for color display you might check this one out.

Can't testify to it's longevity yet, but all the reviews I've read have been very favorable. And, at $100 a pop you can afford to buy two, one for transom mount and one for trolling motor mount. Since you're fishing in small lakes the trolling motor mount (included) would come in handy. I'll likely add one to my party barge too at that price.

FYI here's the color equivalent to the 140. A little more, but you could still buy two and be under your $400 limit. Tight lines!
