Re: fishing boat stability?

It can be frustrating, but give it time. The right one will come along. It took me 6 months and alot of looking before I found what I was looking for - and that was very specific make, model, and motor. Go to searchtempest dot com and search multiple craigslists near you. Don't be afraid to drive to get what you want. Mine was 6 hrs away when I picked it up. Good phone conversation with the owner and lots of email pictures helped out.

BTW, love your handle - have 4 870's myself!

Re: fishing boat stability?

On the older open bow boats, make sure you check that the windsheild will close right. I have seen these boats that had floors replaced, and NOT the rotten stringers. So the sides of the boat tend to spring in, and then the windsheild will not close. Just a thought if your looking to buy an older boat. Also make sure the transom is solid, and no added plates to stiffen it up. Theres still alot of the older tri-hulls around, and some may look good, but there not. I will stand at the window, and almost close it, and bounce, to see if the boat flexes. Good luck looking, and dont be into to much of a hurry. Im sure others will add there opinons too.
