small but price is right. And I wish people would quit calling any small aluminum hill a 'jon' boat.

well decent little boat but not for $800. Motor not running and the trolling motor is a 24V which is overkill and 'he said it worked intermittently'. Lots of work or low resale. I'm going to let him think about it for a week or two while I'm in Denver and STL (will have truck in STL so never know). If still around in a few weeks I'll hit him up for $500 or so.

Here's one in STL. Not quite my style.

Your gonna need a bigger fish, er trailer, er boat! Um what movie am I in:confused:.:D

I actually think it reminds me more of a WWII bomber/fighter rather than a fishin machine. I could be wrong though. That paint job might scare the fish onto your hook. Ya never know.

Good luck on your search. I'll keep my eyes open on this end of Tn for ya.

Digging up an interesting bunch RNJ, definitely diverse........

Might check in w/ 64osby about his 1966 Lone*Star (Chrysler) before you commit to the L*S in STL.... No longitudinal stringers may present a problem to re-deck w/ out injection foam instead of pour in.........

Dorm Fridges Rule!! Sorry I'm a little biased, and I have an old Chrysler dealer locally who is helpful when I need parts. Nice looking boat otherwise.

Pretty much any structurally sound aluminum john boat (I'm using the term in its broadest sense, probably too broad, to include V bottom utility type boats which aren't really john boats by any reasonable interpretation of the term) fourteen feet and up should safely accomodate your fifteen. IMO for your purposes a sixteen foot aluminum V bottom would be the best choice and should be available in your price range. BTW, this is a bit of a digression but one I think you'd find interesting. Check it out when you've got a spare moment. http://198.209.8.180/lochist/periodicals/wrv/V37/N3/w98d.htm Happy hunting!

cool info coop thanks

alas... the hunting is over.

Sent this cat an email telling him I was going to wait a couple weeks and look in St Louis plus didn't need the trolling motor (intermittently worked and 24v so a bit big) or motor (not fully running) has asked how much I said $400 tomorrow morning he said ok.

So 14' glasser, walkable (no seats to step over, foam under floor (probably not wet ass I could lift boat off trailer), fish finder, 3 life jackets, built in livewell (have some nice starboard leftover to make new lid) minnow bucket, and crawdad trap.

Dependent on Nashville traffic I'll be in Clarksville about 7:30 am and if all goes well home about lunchtime. But I'll probably stop for an early lunch at my truck stop joint. They've added a small chinese menu too....

That should be a great little fishing boat. I like the way it's laid out. An old friend has a Ouachita john boat with seats just like that and I always thought they made a lot of sense. You can put stuff in the cavities for easy access storage and his has a switch bank mounted to the side of the rear one.

yeah plus moving around is easy; no seats to climb over.

Just got home - two hours and one hub barely warm.

Looks like the transom has been replaced. Very solid but not original. Didn't catch that in the dark shed when looking at it.

At pick up I popped the hub dust covers and some nasty grease in there so I dug out what I could and took nozzle off my gun and jammed in as much as I could.

Couple miles down the road stopped to check all and one cap gone. OK found parts store bought two. Found a Wally World for two new tires (in case for now will replace this weekend) and missing the new cap. WTF? So just ran home like that.

Why are they falling out? The original was tight as heck getting off, and felt like it went back on just fine and tight. Same with the new one I put on.

I'll put pics up later.

oh and just realized - when it's time to work on it - this will be the fist boat EVER that I can put in the garage!

I will be adding a switch bank. The lights and fish finder currently are set for a power point plug. On each side there are aluminum tubes that look factory for running wires fore and aft. Nice.

Congratulations that looks like a good set up. Perfect for that quick afternoon or morning run up the lake. A new transom is a bonus in my book.

You might be able to have a new cap made. Check with a local sheet metal shop, or hvac company who makes their own duct work. They may be able to fab you one cheap.

That all sounds good!

Hey, just for grins, ya wanna drop a 60Merc on the back?

Congrats on now being able to park one in the garage.

PM headed your way, next Sat is probably out. Is the 20th too close to Christmas to fit your schedule?

Looks good Joe. Should bounce off the bottom without too much trouble. If it runs shallow enough that might be nice to fish the Elk River in.

Man that 60 would make it SCREAM! And look way cool He did say he tested on a boat that was rated for like a 25...
