Last summer my trusty '73 115 inline Merc scored the number three cylinder. I've replaced the motor but am wondering if I would be better off repairing the motor and selling it or parting it out.
The same cylinder scored about 6 years ago. I repaired that(bored .015), replaced numerous parts (wiring harness, lower unit seals, etc. etc.) and the motor has run great ever since - up until this last piston melting outing. Even now it runs and has good, even compression on the other 5 cylinders.
Any thougts?
Thanks

It wont hurt anything to take it apart and get it measured to see what it would take to fix it. If you were gonna do the work yourself it'd make a nice project.

Good luck!
