Hi all.

I'm busy rebuilding my carb, and noticed when I primed the fuel line, there was gas coming out the carb. I have attached a few pictures of the float height and one other part from the kit that was not originally on my carb.

Can anyone please advise?

Thanks

The float height looks fine. The red piece is a needle valve retainer which you may or may not need on your carb. Check the float valve seat for debris inside it and underneath it as that would let fuel run through.

Thanks for the reply. I've adjusted the float again and it seems to have worked. I will run the engine tomorrow and report back!

Re: Float setting

Here's an experience I had with a sticking float needle valve....my carburetor was flooding gas all over the place so I knew the needle valve was stuck. I carefully took off the carb and sure enough it was. It seemed that the rubber tip that are on all the new needle valves stuck to the seat. I free'd it up and had no further problems. Later on a different engine I had the same issue. This time, rather than take the carburetor off, I just lightly tapped the outside of the float bowl. The needle valve free'd up. Problem solved. Older needle valves were all metal. I guess they went to a rubber tip to try and get more positive shutoff of the gas.

Tapping the float bowl is a real old trick. Remember my Daddy doing it.:)
