floor repair

Just had the boat out for teh first time this year since November and I noticed a little soft spot in front of the Ski locker. Right in between it and where the fiberglass of the bow area stars again. NOt bad but a bit spongy. the rest of the floor is as hard and solid as concrete.
So can I cut out that piece and replace it or do I have to replace the whole floor. If that is the case I will probably just put a brace under it and leave it for the season.
But I hope I can replace that one small piece. It is no more than one swuare foot.
I can post pics tomorrow, but evidently I have insomnia and woke up thinking about it at 430 am. So I thought I would ask.
Thanks guys

Re: floor repair

A little soft spot in the DECK (trust my word....it is a deck ;) ) is very close to being a little bit pregnant! You have rot and you need to explore where it really is and how far it goes. Covering that single spot with a repair may work but it will leave questions in your mind.

That is a strange spot to have rot being up front. Neither boat in your signature is beyond having rot based on their ages.

Investigate it.

Re: floor repair

Thanks Bob.
I am gonna check it out. I did replace the floor in the Sea Nymph a couple of years ago. Big job but there were some other things that had to be done as well.
THe Glastron is the one in question. Is the best way to check to start poking holes in places around the floor. The guy I bought it from weighed around 320 and I wonder if he maybe cracked that area and allowed moistire to seep in. BUt like I say the rest of the floor seems solid as a rock. I will check around the rest. Any tips would help
