Re: flooring question

For starters do some searches on this forum and read the millions of tops already on replacing floors.

Also my signature includes a link to my Share A Project Blog. Probably not an exact match to your project, but it will get started as well and the many many other people share a projects you can find there by searching as well

Re: flooring question

If you glass, you glass the surface for abrasion resistance and for strength if you use a thin core and seal the underside with at least three coats of the similar resin with special attention on the sides and end grain. If you encapsulate in glass and the wood gets wet it will not dry out quickly if at all, hence the importance of really sealing everything. Thickness of the glass depends on the core type, distance between the frames if equipped and the stringers/longitudinals. Close distances in a small boat can mean a thinner core which means the weight will be less. The deck can be built up of just about whatever you have at hand, but the components have to be compatible with each other.. Blue closed cell foam sheets used in building insulation will melt when exposed to uncured polyester resin but will adhere like a barnacle when used with epoxy. Polyester/vinylesters don?t do well with damp wood or repeated soakings, epoxy does.

If the deck you took out was bonded to the hull the one you put in should be too..
