Flushing the Outboard on a Docked Boat?

I've been noodling this one lately, and I don't know how to solve the logisics of flushing the motor after use. This will be my first season with the boat, and it'll be tied broadside to a bulkhead.

The motor will sit more than 4 feet out from the bulkhead (boat has an 8' beam), making it impossible for me to reach from land. It's also mounted on a transom bracket that puts it a good distance out from the stern, so I don't think I'll be able to reach it from inside the boat, either.

How do others manage this? Any suggestions?

Salt water or fresh? Fresh don't worry, salt...?...if ya can't get to it.(a dingy and Muffs would work)...just start it it up every 5 days at least...its when it sits that problems start.
That motor is made for salt...I'd just run it..weekly...(friend here has one)
If ya pull it out at times, run SaltAway through it..

Jolin, That '97 Johnny should have a flush plug on the rear of the lower cowling. You remove the black plug and screw in a quick connect plastic fitting. Now you may connect a gardenhose to the flush fitting and flush the motor. See the OMC Accessory catalog, or any marine store for details.

I found it to really save me time and its worth the $30 or so dollars.

Flushing is extremely important in saltwater boating and the amount of money spent to fix corrosive elements inside your motor is about the cost of a new head replacement.

It's too bad its not mass markete because i bought one and my whole marina is asking where they can get them. We called boaters world and they say they will try to get them in stock.

nice set up, but could be put together at home depot garden shop for $15.

I thought so, but it has coiled hoses so you can flush and wash if you only have one motor.

If you tilt the motors all the way up, can you reach them then? If so, you can flush them up (not running) or down (running or not running) or some combination of both.

if you still cannot reach them, you could permanently attach a flush hose to each one and mount it where you can reach it, or else skip the flushing.
