And the coupler fit, and it fit back together in the bell housing??

Whats happening when you turn the key the motor is not turning?

It could be the wrong flywheel, or the starter bendex is not fully extending.

You have it back in the boat? And didn't start it on the crate?? I mean stand ??

Did you replace it with the same year motor??

Pull the motor back out and start over ?

I know, i know it's alot of work, next time start it on the crate for a minute.

Re: Flyweel removal

I need to know if its possible to install a flyweel on a 350 GM engine backward?

Ayuh,... Not without it being painfully Obvious....

Are you using the boat's original Flywheel,..??
Are you using the boat's original Starter,..??

Or,....
Are you just Mixing,+ Matching a Pile of Parts,..??

Re: Flyweel removal

did you change the position of the starter? Is the starter engaging properly? Did you buy a new starter or reuse the old in the hopes that it works? I just had to swap flywheels on my new engines because it was setup for offset starters, and i had to install inline to fit the engines in my boat. I had to use the flywheels off the old engines.(same block)

What i was trying to convey is the flywheel might be hanging up on the bell housing.

So yes you might have put it on backwards. The coupler usually sits in a groove of the flywheel sorta a recess did it when you put it together ?

Is the New starter the same bolt pattern as the old starter,..??

Is it Binding, Screeching, or just plain Missing the ring gear all together,..??
