Re: foam for flotation

Most folks here use the pink foam insulation boards from HD or Lowes. Many also use pool noodles, dollar stores are best place for those. The white foam I believe tends to hold water over time. I got lucky as mine was in good shape and dry.

The pink, blue, and green EPS sheet foam is the best bang for the dollar. Pool noodles are more expensive to float the same amount of weight that the EPS will.

The EPS sheet foam is closed cell and won't absorb water.

Use the pink or blue foam board.....it's a closed cell foam just like the pour in 2 part foam.

Just to be clear on terminology, the pink blue or green board (and I personally can't speak for the green) are Extruded Polystyrene. this is what you want to use. The white bead board (Expanded Polystyrene, and what came in many of our boats originally) is NOT what you want to use. And if you reference EPS when talking to a supplier you will be talking about the Expanded....
