Is there any benefit to fogging with Seafoam and letting it sit all winter. Uisng Seafoam in 2-strokes help to reduce carbon build-up. Would it help to clean up the the upper end of a 4-stroke engine, do nothing at all or could it cause problems later?

You can use it to clean the engine, but it's NOT a fogging oil, and shouldn't be used as such. It would do more harm than good as it's designed to clean everything, not coat it for rust protection.

We use seafoam fogging oil to fog our engines.

If youre talking about the cleaner that seafoam makes then like Don said, NO, you cannot use that to fog an engine with.

You cannot apply 2-stroke principles to a 4 stroke engine. They don't "burn" oil(on-purpose) and they don't "load-up", "carbon-up", etc....

Now having said that, I think I have a can of Seafoam snake oil out in the shop and I believe it DOES say on the can that it can be used for "layup" "fogging" in 4 stroke engines....

Every manufacturer makes all sorts of claims about their particular brand of fogging oil. However when you read the MSDS for them they all pretty much say the same.....

Petroleum oil
Butane
Propane

Use whatever you like however understand that you should probably pull the plugs in Spring and clean them. They'll be fairly well-fouled after you soak them in (fogging) oil.

Ayuh,... The can I've got out in the barn says Seafoam on it, it's an Ok penertratin' oil,...
Haven't used it much,... donno....

Ayuh,... When I get to the Foggin' part of winterizing, I just turn the key Off, 'n put 'er to bed....

Drainin' is the Important step.....;)

Yeah. Mine is in an enclosed dry building for the 6-8 months it sits. I have never "fogged" it.

My tools and bench vise would rust in the garage due to the wild swings in temperature and humidity. Sometimes it feels like it's air conditioned but it's really just that it gets warm outside and the garage is still cold. I would think the engine does the same thing. It's real cold from a long winter's sleep then all of a sudden warm moist spring air creeps in and causes condensation to form on it then bingo, rust appears.
I got a spark plug sand blaster for $10. I think I'll keep on fogging and clean the plugs in the spring. Actually, this year I filled the carburetor and turned the key and it started like it was already warmed up, even with fouled plugs.
