Hi, Guys.

Last time out the starter wouldn't engage the flywheel. Is there anything that I can do to lube or loosen the shaft? Or is the starter shot? Once I pried a wrench under the collar it fired right up. Is this a prelude to something more perminent happening? What should I look at first? Or should I just change the whole thing all together?

Thanks

Make sure all battery connections (at both ends) are clean and tight. A weak battery can also cause that. Have it load tested (regardless of age). Also clean and lightly oil the shaft on top of the starter that the bendix rides up and down on. You should be able to manualy rotate it and it will go up very easily.
