Howdy, Rick.

Welcome to iboats. :)

First idea: Read the "New posters, read this first" thread.

Second idea: Go to the Force Troubles forum. That is where you will find this.

Welcome to iboats Rick.

Does it act like it is flooded, and requires quite a bit of cranking before it will fire?

Been thru this myself with my 70hp, and it has come up here numerous times on the forum.

I suspect the fuel pump diaphram or gasket is shot. After you shut it down, the remaining fuel leaks thru the pump, into the block, and causes a flooded condition.

A rebuild kit is between $8 and $14 depending on which pump you have. ( square or oblong/oval ) You can get it from any Mercury dealer of from Mercurypartsexpress.com
You will need your serial number to order from this website.

Let us know how you make out.
