Force 125 fuel pump kit 1988

I have no top end power, checked everything except the stator and the fuel pump I have never rebuilt the pump so I order a rebuilt kit from iboat, it didnt come with replacement valves. I have taken the top cover off but the base is stuck to block, can I pry on it or should I take aputty knife and try to pound it in? Are the valves under that? someone told me one might be stuck or rusted?

The pump cover comes off with six screws. Inside the cover are three check valves. They cost $5 apiece from www.mercruiserparts.com or maybe even iboats has them. Don't going prying around with a screwdriver.

Those covers definitely get stuck! What has always worked for me is to tap lightly on the corners of the cover with a plastic hammer.

Thanks Ill try a rubble hammer. Should i replace them even if they look good? I asked iboat and he didnt have a number for them, thanks Ill get some ordered anyway.

I doubt that a rubber hammer will do it. If you don't have a plastic tipped hammer, just hold a screwdriver by the shank and rap it with the plastic handle.

I'd replace the gaskets, even if they look good. Try this number for the gasket. F438760

I meant plastic, I ordered the kit 18-7806 and thought I would get everything I would need, Im going to order the valves and ill ask about the gasket you said anything else??? Dos the 18-7806 come with the cover to pump gasket? Can anyone tell me about a link to look at pic. of the whole pump? I ordered the manual. Thanks for everyones in put.
