I have a 1989 force 125 hp.I recently had trim leak down problems and had my valve body rebuilt by Ritt he did a wonderfull job with the rebuild and got it done quickly. The problem of the trim leaking down is now gone but of course a new problem has risen. As soon as it has and forward momentum (backward pressure) the motor wont hold its trim position and is forced back to the transom. I can give more information just let me kno what you need to have i can also take pictures. Please help thanks alot

might have a bit of air in it. That would not show up until it's under a load. Did you check the fluid level after the test run?

What kind of oil?Tranny fluid or 20wt? The trim cylinder might be bad.Do the test to check the pump and cylinders.Send it back.
Leak down test:Need to buy,3/16 inverted flare(female) with end plugged with a 1/8 plug.
3/1 inverted flare plug(male)
Raise the drive block it up.Remove the front of the plugs on the side.Install the plugged fitting and then remove the block. If it drifts down then the tilt cylinder is bad.
Pump test:Block it up,replace the front line, remove the front BOTTOM and plug it up.REmove the block. If it falls then the pump is defective.J

Hope you understand this.If not any Force(not clymer or seloc) manual for any 80's 50-150 hp will have the tests.J

edit- just checked fluid level and it was completely full. I now completely understand what you are talking about and i have found the parts.

i don't understand your problem. does the trim cylinder shift when you are in forward gear? the motor kicks up in reverse? I'm having a mental block. Please rephrase the problem description and I might be able to tell you waht it is and how to fix.

Re: force 125 trim fails under load

the problem is when the motor is put into forward gear it will not trim up and if it is already trimmed it is sucked to the transom. Im not completely sure but i think that the motor was okay in reverse and did not get pulled away from the transom. hope that helps
