I have replaced my ignition stator with a new stator, but I still am not getting a spark. There is nothing wrong with the ignition, the fly wheel is spinning normally, the circuit breakers are not tripped, replaced the relays, and pulled and buffed the spark plugs. Does anyone know what the rectifier does or have any suggestions as to what I should try next?

It would help to know what year it is. The rectifier converts AC to DC for charging the battery. It has nothing to do with spark.

It is a 1990. That is what I thought the rectifier was doing, but since I connected two of the stator wires to the rectifer I am grasping at any possible idea.

Check the kill switch first. Then test the stator.outboardignition.com has the procedures.

Obviously there is something wrong with the ignition or it would have spark.

You need to get a Clymer Force repair manual and follow the ignition troubleshooting section for your motor.
Circuit breaker does not control ignition.
Neither do the relays.
If you have surface gap (gapless) plugs, do not sand or buff them, only wipe them off with a soft rag.

You need to test the stator and the trigger.
Check the kill circuit.
Check the ground wires on the ignition board.

Do you have any spark at all on any of the sparkplugs?

The rectifier converts ac to dc to charge the battery.

It does not play an active roll in the ignition system BUT a bad rectifier can and will cause ignition troubles.
