I broke a ring in number one piston on my Force 150 cylinder looks like it survived and should hone up ok. The head on the other hand looks terrible all pitted and dinged on the top. Does anyone know if this is even worth putting back together ? even if the cylinder does clean up how would it run with the head all dinged up ?

Sharp edges in the head will result in hot spots, causing pre-ignition issues. Whether it's useable and can be smoothed out depends on the severity of the 'dings.' Photo's.....

As long as the sharp edges are smoothed out, there will be no loss of performance from them and you should not experience pre-ignition from hot spots. The dings themselves won't cause loss of compression ratio or weakness in the head. The casting is about 1/4 inch thick and the dings, while they may look bad are usually less than half that. If the cylinder hones out well, check the piston. They usually have damaged ring lands so put in a new piston and set of rings and run the engine.

If the cylinder does not hone out well, disassemble the engine and bore it. It will still be worth your effort, much cheaper than a used or new engine of equal size.
