I think I read somewhere that a CDI box can test good just turning the starter over, and still malfunction when you open up the throttle in actual operation. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
And my time working on a late-90s Johnson has convinced me that the Force outboards are much easier (for me!) to work on, so.... guess I'm a Force guy now. I'll use those CDI boxes eventually!
