Just wondering if I remove my trim pump off my motor to get serviced, with the trim fully up, what should I expect as for fluids? Do not want to leak as my boat is in the water...thanks.

Well, you need to be more clear which part you are removing, the pump or the motor? When you say the pump, it means the valve body which also means there will be leaks. However, if you meant to say motor, then there shouldn't be leaks.

Do not remove anything with the boat in the water. On most hulls, at least part of the trim/tilt system is in the water at rest. Removing any component will allow water to enter the system.

Wondering if it is a minor problem....when trimming up or down , it stops and if u tap it lightly on the top , it starts again....could it be rusted ? Seems like a contact problem.

If the Tilt/Trim motor is still running when it stops but nothing happens, then it's a hydraulic problem.

If the Tilt/Trim motor stops and tapping gets the motor running again, then it's an electrical problem. Make sure the Tilt/Trim relays are seated good in the connectors that they plug in to. As the motor tilts up and down, it may be flexing the power cables that go to the T/T relays.

Found the problem...took the motor out and found one of the brushes was sticking...cleaned it all up and works like a charm!

That makes a lot of sense since tapping the motor makes it run meaning the brushes are not making full contacts. Great.
