Force 50 HP power tilt

This one is for RRitt. I just bought a 1987 or 1989 Force 50 with this power tilt. I believe it is tilt only. It is Prestolite. It bolts to the transom outside the port transom clamp by the bottom aluminum bracket and at top attaches to another bracket bolted to the back of the engine steering yoke. It appears to be stock but I have never seen one like this. Info?

35 thru 55HP also used on evinrude and johnson - model# 71H01, 5H024, 5H121
it uses same piston, motor field, brush cap, and check valve as other chrysler trims but with an integrated housing. Similar rebuild to the classic prestolite pump and tilt ram using most of the same parts. However, the cover gasket is NLA and difficult to cut (very difficult, add an hours time to your repair estimate just to cut the gasket). The thickness of gasket is part of the armature end-play spec and your new gasket should but cut for 1/32 cork, buna, or cork/buna blend. Cork buna seems to be the best material since it retains it shape over widest range of temperatures and environments.

Thanks! That does not seem to have any problems. It was on an engine that I will be selling. However: Would you recommend selling it on the engine or separately? That is, is it worth more as a separate item?

probably worth more on engine. most people don't know what to do with it and it's hard to find a buyer. on engine though and it's a known good thing on a known good engine.
